What is the most valuable comic book of all time? And why is it so important?
Action Comics #1 is the first appearance of Superman, and credited with the creation of the entire superhero genre.
Published in 1938, the famous image of Superman smashing a car on the rocks makes it instantly recognizable.
If you’re familiar with the red-and-blue goody two-shoes that Supes has become since the late 1930s, then you’d be shocked by the early badass stories where he shows no mercy.

As well as being critically important, Action #1 is also very rare. There are only 43 unrestored examples in the CGC census. That makes it about as hard to find as the T206 Honus Wagner card.
When copies of Action #1 do change hands, they usually break the glass ceiling.
Goldin set the world record for the Rocket copy of Action #1, which we sold privately for $3.4m!
Action Comics #1 is the founder member of the Goldin Comic Book Hall of Fame.
These so rarely change hands that it's hard to provide any guidance on prices.
