For a clue to the future value of this suddenly exciting first appearance, you only need to look as far as Brave and the Bold #28 (first JLA).
This key Silver Age book was important, but under-priced, until the JLA movie rumors became so loud they could no longer be ignored.
Prices on BB#28 have gone crazy at all grades, with record prices being set.
It seems logical that Brave and the Bold #25 will follow the same pattern. What's different is that Justice League movie rumors went on for years.
The little-known Legends mini-series has not one, but two key issues for Suicide Squad comic buyers. The most important is the first re-appearane of the squad in the Copper Age.
There is no shortage of CGC 9.8s (88 in the census already) and prices are softening as more are pushed onto the market. Proceed with caution if you're buying these.
Record sale: $399
Minimum value: $1
The Suicide Squad comic first appeared in their own dedicated title in 1987 (when most of the DC universe was rebooted post the Crisis on Infinite Earths clean-up).
Prices are just starting to rise on this issue. The black cover means it will be tough to find in high grade.
Record sale: $250
Minimum value: $1
Best known for being Batgirl, Barbara Gordon first appeared in the Silver Age key issue Detective Comics #359. This is a major key and quite expensive.
What is less-known (but catching fire now due to the Suicide Squad movie announcement) is her first appearance as Oracle.
Detective #359 is a Hot Comic! Record sale: $18,250 |
Record sale: $226 |
Here are first appearances on the rest of the Squad. Some are better-known than others...
It's a fair bet that sets of Legends have been dug out of dump-bins after the announcement of the Squad movie, so don't be surprised to see lots of these on the market.
Record sale: $150
Minimum value: $1
Who?! What?! Another dump-bin degenerate that is suddenly on the list of hot comic books. It's reasonably priced for an obscure Bronze Age book.
Record sale: $200
Minimum value: $1

This is a genuinely tough book to find in high grade. There are 101 in the CGC census, but only 18 are above VF. A really nice copy of this book could be an appreciating asset if the Suicide Squad comic book squad are a hit on the silver screen.

Minimum value: $25

Straight out of the sci-fi era obsession comes this classic Batman cover. It also co-incides with the Count Vertigo first appearance.
This book is very scarce in high grade, with only 7 copies graded VF or above.
This one shows up quite regularly, and is not hard to find if you are not fussy about condition.
Record sale: $7,700
Minimum value: $10
Once Dollar bin darlings, the entire run of Mister Miracle is beginning to warm up. Partly due to some first appearances of previously obscure second-string heroes who are turning up in movies, and partly because Bronze Age DC is hard to find in really high grade.
Record sale: $235
Minimum value: $1
There are dozens of Strange Adventures books which are very tough to find in high grade. This is one of them. Currently there are only seven in the census at any grade(!). Expect that situation to change. Cool cover too.
Record sale: $1,200
Minimum value: $10
Finally, a reason to collect Captain Atom books... Whether or not people will take notice is another matter.
Record sale: $406
Minimum value: $5
Many Brave and the Bold issues are barely worth owning, but maybe the Suicide Squad connection will give this minor first appearance a shot in the arm.
Record sale: $80
Minimum value: $1
An obscure book from the period during Charlton's ownership of Captain Atom. 15 in the census, with not many in high grade, but will they ever be truly popular?
Record sale: $398
Minimum value: $5
This is a major key issue from the Silver Age, yet we think its value still has some way to go. One of the top bad gals from the Batman villains list.

Even his involvement in the Suicide Squad has done little to revive interest in this obscure character's Bronze Age series. Time will tell whether his big-screen bow will help.
Record sale: $96
Minimum value: $1
It's as if the DC execs purposely picked on the most obscure and strange characters for the Suicide Squad. Firestorm has already warmed up (boom boom) anyway, and you'll do well to find a CGC 9.8 for under $450.
Record sale: $516
Minimum value: $5
With the Suicide Squad movie announcement and the interest in female superheroes being at an all-time high, Vixen's first appearance in Action #521 has begun to take off.
Record sale: $301
